Homemade Biscuits

Here is a recipe I grew up with in Chile, South America. It has always been my favorite, and now it is my family's favorite as well. My boys think Mom makes 'the best biscuits.' I've even been told they 'taste like Heaven' by my middle son. So enjoy...

2 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 C oil (olive oil makes them taste so good)
2/3 C water or milk

Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Mix dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Stir gently. You might need a tad bit more water. The key is "Don't over stir!" Drop by tablespoon-full onto cookie sheet.

Bake for 12 minutes.

If you double the recipe, do not double the oil. Use 1/3 C oil and 1 2/3 C water.

  1. Hey those look familiar! There used to be a restaurant in Greenville, SC when I was going to college that made those kind of biscuits and they called the restaurant, the Ugly Biscuit. The nice thing about them is that they're fast!
